Feedback about feedback

You asked.

If you aggressively solicit my opinion, you may receive it.

OneStarReview is for the increasingly absurd experience of being asked to rate, review, recommend, score, survey, and “share feedback” about every damn interaction in modern life.

The response machine

Copy one. Paste it where you were asked for feedback. OSR does not auto-submit reviews, find review forms, or coordinate review bombing. You choose what to post and where.

[Generic review solicitation]

The Standard

This company doesn’t actually deserve a one-star review. I’m leaving one because it asked me to leave a review. Please stop asking.

[Repeated solicitation]

Asked Again

You already asked me for a review. Now you’ve asked again. This star is for the persistence. Please stop.

Why this one →
[Blocked workflow]

The Hostage

I was required to answer a survey or review prompt in order to continue. That’s what this one-star review is for.

Why this one →
[Rating manipulation]

Five Stars, Please

Asking customers specifically for a five-star review defeats the purpose of asking for a review. This star is for the ask.

Why this one →
[Corporate score pressure]

Employee Hostage

Please stop making employees beg customers for perfect survey scores. This rating reflects the survey policy, not the employee.

Why this one →
[Premature solicitation]

Too Soon

I have barely had time to use this product or service and you are already asking me to review it. Give me a minute.

Why this one →
[Mandatory + category error]

The Captive Unrecommendable

I am required to use this, and normal people do not recommend internal corporate software to their friends. Please stop asking me to rate it like I chose it.

In one breath

What is this?

OneStarReview is a tiny consumer protest against review solicitation becoming a mandatory second transaction.

If a company asks for feedback, it has to be prepared for the feedback to be about the fact that it asked.

The one rule

Punch up.

Don’t fabricate experiences, target individual employees, or organize a pile-on. The point is to tell the organization that the solicitation itself is the problem.

Do not punish the cashier, support rep, server, or other worker because corporate management has decided “anything below a ten is failure.” Say clearly when your complaint is about the policy.

Taxonomy

The problem is not that feedback exists. The problem is that somebody discovered “engagement” and applied it to absolutely everything.
