Stop asking.
OneStarReview is a tiny consumer protest against review solicitation becoming a mandatory second transaction.
The rule
If a company asks for feedback, it has to be prepared for the feedback to be about the fact that it asked. OSR reviews the solicitation experience, not necessarily the underlying company.
Punch up
Do not punish the cashier, support rep, server, or other worker because corporate management has decided “anything below a ten is failure.” Say clearly when your complaint is about the policy.
No engagement strategy
Our engagement strategy is that the thing should be useful enough that you remember it exists.
- No newsletter.
- No streaks, points, badges, or gamification.
- No “we haven’t seen you lately” messages.
- No review prompts.
- No subscription for a fucking clipboard button.
No, really. I don’t want your money.
The domain and hosting cost less than many people spend on coffee without trying very hard. Keep your five bucks. Tip someone. Buy a stranger a coffee. Give to a shelter. Help a friend. Or keep it, because everything is expensive and everything is hard.
Try to make the world slightly less of a pain in the ass.
